Thank you

I'd like to express my thanks to everyone who sent me thoughts, prayers, and comments after I posted that Pixel had died. There were just so many of them that I couldn't reply to every single one of them and really I'd be saying much the same thing over and over again anyway. I really appreciate it and can't tell you all how much it helped. I know I've been in the same situation and it always feels like nothing you can say will really help, but it actually does. Again, I thank you.

She lived a fairly long life and certainly a very happy one. I doubt there are many cats in the world that have been as spoiled as she was; she knew she had me wrapped around her little paw, that's for sure. (I still have a towel taking up a good portion of my desk. Pyrite uses it too, but I'll always think of it as "Pixel's towel".) I know I'll always miss her, but that's part of having (and loving) a pet ... or any other being, for that matter. We can't always know how long we'll have with them.

Blessings for you all.

I blame [livejournal.com profile] chorus ...

I often try these memes, but don't post my results. After seeing some of what came up, I had to post this one just to share a laugh with some people!

Go to Wikipedia (http://www.wikipedia.org/). Type in your birth date (but not year). List three events that happened on your birthday. List two important birthdays and one interesting death. Post this in your journal.

Events

1929 - Vatican City becomes a sovereign state.
1965 - The US Supreme Court decides Griswold v. Connecticut effectively legalizing the use of contraception by married couples.
1993 - Prince changes his name to a symbol and comes to be referred to as "The Artist formerly known as Prince".

Birthdays

1946 - Jenny Jones, Palestinian-born comedienne and talk show host
1958 - Prince, American musician (Not important, really, but it amused me that I share a birthday with him.)

Death

1329 - Robert the Bruce, King of Scotland (b. 1274)

Deaths were actually a bit harder to chose from and were really a bit more interesting. Other "good" choices were Chief Seattle and Alan Turing, but Robert the Bruce seemed the most appropriate.
